The most historic wing of the Estate’s Barguillean Farmhouse, Josephine’s Wing offers visitors a rare glimpse of life on a traditional working farm.

With its own front entrance and parking facilities, this spacious, bright and fully-heated two-floor cottage accommodates up to 6 guests in four homely bedrooms (2 double, 2 single) with gorgeous vistas over Glen Lonan.

Kick back and relax in the comfortable living room which enjoys views over the landscaped farmhouse garden and Glen Lonan’s spectacular scenery beyond. At the heart of the cottage, this room boasts a working open fireplace for cosy winter evenings, with garden furniture outside for drinks on a glorious summer’s day.

Last but not least, the tiled farmhouse kitchen is well-equipped for serving up hearty home-cooked meals after a long day out and about.

  • Dogs: One well-behaved dog is welcome but must be kept under strict control at all times as the house is surrounded by a working farm with cattle and sheep. We also request that dogs do not go upstairs and are kept off the furniture. Guests are asked to clean up after their dogs in the garden and surrounding farmyard.
  • Smoking: Josephine's Wing is a non-smoking and non-vaping premises
  • Clock Tower: Barguillean Farm Bell Tower sounds the hour, on the hour between the hours 9am and 7pm

Immediate Surroundings

  • Within a stone’s throw from Josephine’s Wing is the beautiful nine-acre Angus’ Garden, open to the public all year round.
  • Keen walkers and cyclists can make the most of the beautiful single-track road through Glen Lonan, once known as the Road of the Kings, along which ancient kings were conveyed to Iona for burial.
  • For the more intrepid, there is a popular 2-3 hour walk up the hill behind the house to the Deirdre Sheiling, with stunning views over Taynuilt, Ben Cruachan and Loch Etive. Keep your eyes peeled for hawks, buzzards and golden eagles!

Further Afield

  • Munro Baggers will find this the perfect base from which to climb Ben Cruachan, Argyll’s highest mountain, and other munros in the vicinity.
  • The town of Oban, which grew up around the Oban Whisky Distillery (est. 1794) is just 14 miles away. Known as Seafood Capital of Scotland and Gateway to the Isles, Oban is the perfect place to spend a day, come rain or shine!
